Re: Albino African Softfur!!
I wouldn't call that albino, but rather "beige". Albinos have PINK lightbright eyes :) while Beiges have dark ruby to red eyes.
They sure do remind me of gerbil babies, and I'm sure, just as jumpy :)
Re: Albino African Softfur!!
Damn but those little buggers are cute. I don't think I could ever breed rodents as feeders...I'd get a soft spot for them and never feed them off :)

Larry,
You seem to be coming up with some cool combos. I am blown away by rat genetics. I still cant quite understand them but its fun to see what comes out!

Re: Albino African Softfur!!
I've got some of the beige with pink eyes too. Never thought of it as albino though.

Re: Albino African Softfur!!
I don't know about the African Softfurs but in a regular rat beige is almost always associated with ruby eyes whereas true albinos have pink/bright red eyes. I get the occasional dark eyed beige rat but ruby is by far the most common eye color associated with a full or partially beige rat.
Re: Albino African Softfur!!
I'm sorry I should have been more specific. I was thinking more along the lines of Tyrosinase positive albino.
Re: Albino African Softfur!!
So in other words, you mean beige? :D
