    aesthetically pleasing substrate mix?
I've been using coco husk and aspen, but just curious if anyone does a substrate mix that looks and feels more like "real dirt" without being dusty? And maybe is less easy to move around for the ball pythons.

I use orchid bark ( sometimes called ReptileBark or ReptiBark apparently ) .

It looks great , natural looking , makes all snakes look fabulous ( OK not MBKs) and holds humidity well .

In the past I mixed orchid bark with some damp eco earth and that also worked well . You have to keep it damp with regular spraying though ..

I’ve been considering using a mix of ReptiChip and Reptile Prime when I run out of aspen. Haven’t tried it yet though.

I've been using Reptile Prime exclusively lately and I love it. Even my heavier bodied snakes don't move it around much. And it holds humidity really well.

I have been using a blend of eco earth and repti-bark for years. I change the ratio a bit seasonally as well as species to species. I've got no complaints. I'm able to achieve different humidity levels, it spot cleans well, absorbs odor well and looks natural.

I also have been very pleased with reptile prime so far, like pulverized reptiback and coco husk if I had to describe it, fibers and dirtlike, very light and fluffy and seems to really help hold humidity.
There are a few review threads about it on here. The snakes seem to like it and it's easy for them to burrow through.
