Took the family to Gatlinburg TN this past weekend. It has been over a decade for me and the wife. First time for the kiddo.
Kelsie and I went on a mountain coaster together. Momma was too chicken. Went to Ripley's Aquarium, Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum, and the Guinness Book of World Records Museum. All are must see if you have never been.
If you have never been, Gatlinburg is a "get out and walk" type of town. We ate and shopped at some local places. We did go over to Pigeon Forge for a bit. Went to a place call Apple Barn. We ate apple fritters with apple butter that basically tastes like the inside of an apple pie.
People in TN love their wine too. Wineries everywhere.
On the last day we decided to go for a swim at the hotel pool to end the day. Thank goodness it was fenced in. I happened to look up at the parking lot and what I thought was a large dog coming our way ended up being a young black bear. It ran right and the pool but once it hit the fence it ran around the side and down the street out of sight. Talk about being close to nature.
If we ever moved out of GA I think we might go to TN. Loves the mountain views over beaches. May be if we win the lottery that we never play. LOL!
