Custom cage: What vents do you use?
I am building a BP cage out of wood and am looking for recommendations on what to use for air vents. I am particularly looking for something that has a nice finished look on both the inside and outside of the cage.

I've used perforated metal in the past. Looks nice & is smoother on one side than the other (from the holes punched thru) so make sure the smooth side is "in".
(It looks the same on either side, but you don't want a snake with abraded nose...) Sold in sheets (3' x 3' as I recall) for screen doors etc. in home improvement.
The holes are tiny, about 2 mm. I've seen this in white too, besides "metal" colors, & it's easy to cut (metal shears) & work with, very sturdy.

When I build a Melamine enclosure years ago, I used a smaller version of these....available at Home Depot, Lowes, Menards....come in a variety of sizes. Go with smaller, rather than bigger.

These plastic ones work great, as do the screw on flat variety of drain cover (further down on this same link). Speaking from experience, there is a similar vent product made of metal with fins. I would not recommend using the metal fin style as they bend with enough pressure. Luckily I had no escapees.

I used these in my bearded dragon cage about 4 years ago when I build it. Think I got them at home Depot. Adjustable Vent covers wood matches color wise with the strain in used. Doesn't look as nice from inside but not bad.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b048775d0c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f5906dd6b8.jpg
