    Heat Tape Question
Hey all, im building a melamine rack similar to the one in this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iu2f9p7Fuo ). Im planning on running one strip of heat tape that snakes down each shelf (no pun intended) as he shows @35:55. So i ordered my heat tape flexwatt brand i believe from beanfarm, not considering it wasnt the same as THG. The flexwatt has the was paper-like coating on the bottom, can this side still be used as the heat source (can both sides be used to heat) as with the THG? I mean it didnt cost much but id rather not have to order a strip of THG as well if i dont have to. Thanks in advance!

I am not sure, but there will be someone on tmw in the morning that can answer your question. Most of us go to bed early haha.

Is it a flame-retardant coating? Can you e-mail the company to ask? If you already have the heat tape, can you plug it in and temp gun it to compare?

yes, u can use either side. as Tila mentioned, it's a flame retardant - not a heat shield. u should still regulate it w/ a thermostat as w/ any heatsource for your reptiles.
