new to racks, need small question answered
i get the whole building them but the heating, seen some people put UTHs under plastics, burning hazard, then here of heat tape, flexiwatt and im lost, seen som with heating blankets, so im very confusesed on how you heat them and are able to run temps on them. i just dont wanna scorch the snakes or burn my house down
Re: new to racks, need small question answered
My racks have flewatt heat tape controlled by herpstat thermostats.
Re: new to racks, need small question answered
Flexwatt have been so far the best and the most used. Their heating is more constant than others heat pad and they can also reach a higher intensity if needed. The fact that you can cut them the size you need is a big plus there.
If you are unsure how to cut and wire it, I suggest you ask someone or get some heat pad at your local pet store.
Flexwatt is not inexpensive either, but cost less than others way.
P.S. : go belly heat, no back heat !

Make sure you use a thermostat with the heat tape. It can get extremely hot and it can definitely get up to temps that will burn your snakes if you don't have something to control it.
Re: new to racks, need small question answered
i actually just heat my room to 87 with a oil filled radiator style heater from walmart seems to be working great so far with no problems i know im not really givin my balls a hot side or cool side but they seem to like it
Re: new to racks, need small question answered
If you have a thermostat you can use heatmats as well, there's no additional danger. That's what I'm planning to do.
