Anyone know how to control buffalo beetles in a dubia colony?
Ive got rid of almost all of them a few months ago and they are back so they almost are as many as dubias. I know they are scavengers but still Ive found a couple of half eaten roaches and wonder if the larvae are feasting on them.

Why do you need to get rid of them? They will eat dead roaches, but they won't kill the roaches to eat them. They have a symbiotic relationship.

I suspected those beetles were killing my dubias when they were in the white. I rinsed off some adult dubias with water and started some new colonies with fresh egg crate (old colony got fed off to the chickens). Haven't seen those beetles ever since. No issues with my colonies for years now. :)

I am not saying you're wrong. However, I have over 10k roaches and have only seen them eating matured roaches (that I assumed have died off), and I have used buffalo beetles since the beginning.

I think because I have such a small colony its more noticeable. I know they eat up the roaches food, the larvae are always congregating on the food. I have probably as many of those beetles as roaches. I did scoop some beetles out and put them in my bioactive crestie tanks.
I May try rinsing some adults off and start a second colony anyway just to be safe. Once the colonies are huge it probably wont matter as much. I have about a hundred or so right now and dont want to lose any..
