Website design?

I was curious if any of you could recommend a good website designer. I would like to have a website made at a competitive cost. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It allows you to put a price on your project, specify exactly what you want, and interview many potential developers. :gj:

Be ready to drop at least 1k for an actual "designer" to build your site.

Not necessarily. Some people are starving for money due to the economy as of late.

I will add though, that these days 'web designers' are a dime a dozen. Always ask to see some example work before shelling out any money.

Have you considered designing your own website? I don't consider myself to be terribly tech savy, but doing my own web design has proven to be very easy, fun and economical. You can get web design software for less than $100, and there are plenty of books out there that walk you through the essential elements of web design.

I promise you, that no designer who is good at what they do is having any issue with business or money. Economy is bad for a lot of people and it's hurting some jobs. Job's like web design and networking and repair aren't really effected. I useto design sites, and it was never slow, even though the last site I designed was a few months back. I now just fix computers when i'm bored, and I try to only take one job or something every so often because to me working on computers is boring, but somehow it seems like everytime I take one job, 4 more get added on because people around here know how good I am, and not only that I undercut places like Geek Squad and them.

Maybe its the locality difference then, because around here its the exact opposite.
