Escaped Ball, Need help.

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
i read some where that if you put flour on the floor before you go to bed it wont catch it but if you look at the trail of the snake it will give you a clue where it moved during the night and you might track it down

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
Dont give up, even if it means looking through all those cases, but dont overlook the obvious spots. THe flour trick is good to! I dont know where u live but i look for the nnearest heat sorce if it is cold where u are. And with this i have no clue if it would work but if it is cold gett some hand warmer packets and put them in socks around various places in ur basement, and check them every once and a while and espically at night. Maby ull see him around, but if u have a generally warm basement i dont know if that would work the same. Good luck and I hope u find ur friend soon!

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
My ball got out once, they don't usually go far from their enclosures, I found mine about ten feet away. He was behind the wall...hard to explain but we have our circuite breaker behind a wall of our bar and he was there hiding b/w a plank of wood....they can squeeze into a lot of stuff so check places you think he couldn't have gotten into as well.

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
Look around where it's tank/tub is! Also check out where the is any kind of heat!
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
ANy kind of heat source is a good place to look but remember if temperatures are too cold the snake will become im-mobile, I talked to a vet about it a while ago when I lost one of mine. Check everywhere!!! you never know...they will sometimes show up in least expected places....

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
My favorite piece of advice for people who have an escaped snake: When you're looking....if you dismiss someplace as too small or too tight for the snake to get into or through...CHECK there!! We big, clunky humans can't even imagine how tight of spaces they can squeeze themselves into and through.

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
Just another quick thing I thought about....try caging a mouse/rat and see if the smell will lure him out
:)

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
So if he is immobile is that a good thing or not?
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
immobile means motionless.
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
WHat is ur basement like, as in furnature and what kinda walls and doors and such, and what tep. (aprox) is it?
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
My basemsnt has 2 bedrooms beside each other. its about 68 degrees down there. k S is for the storage area its a big place with a lot cases when we moved from a big house to a smaller house so lots of cases and bags so quite impossible to look in there plus i'll have to crouch and go in cause its like a crawl space. T is for table the smaller T is for tank on the drawer. D is for drawers. B is for boilers and those sort of things. W is for washroom. and C is for couch. any suggestions. i left a big barrel of hot water with a lid on it and his cave i bought him in the left side storage entrance. I also put a non - poisonous mouse trap on each side of the storage entrance and a live mouse in a cage in my room which is the middle bedroom. Thanks for all your help

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
Ah! Just make sure he couldn't get caught in the mousetrap; I am assuming you put those outside though.
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
the mousetraps are for snakes also, at least thats what it says on the package.
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
Never give up and always look twice in the same place. Have you considered sleeping in the basement? They usually come out and about at night, if you are light sleeper you will probably hear it moving specially is you leave plastic bags around
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
i will try that tonight. what if it is immobile?

If its immobile due to being cold...then you'll just have to knuckle down and look for it. Resign yourself to getting into those crawl spaces and digging out boxes and methodically tearing apart the basement to look everywhere it could possibly have gotten.

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
lol i also don't want my mom to know that its missing so tearing the whole basement apart is kinda bait.
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
All right, now i m just spitballing here but,
First I would check the adjasent room to the one the cage was in, and if anyone sleeps in there watch out for any reptiles on them if they wake up! LOL. I would perticularly check the bed.
Second i would check the Storage room. Dont know how but u gonna have to eventually if u dont find it.
Third I would check the boiler room. Anything emitting heat will do.
If none of those work I would double check the storage room. ANd Pray a little more, LOL.
I m baseing this chain of events on the fact that the bp will travel along the wall since it dosent want to be out in the open.
And just remember that i was just thinking like a snake, also i was wondering if is all carpet or tile or concrete or a mixture. I dont think a snake would want a cold belly since it is like 1/8 of its body, lol.
but GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
theres only a rug in my room.
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
being honest with you the first thing i would do is tell your mum ,don`t know if shes scared of snakes or not but if she is it will be a hell of a shock if it pops its head up right in front of her but on the other hand two pairs of eyes and hands are a lot better than one hope you find it soon
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
If there is only carpet in your room then I bet he can't move. It might be easier for you to find him but you are going to have to tear your whole basement apart. And I agree, even if your mom dosen't like them...tell her so she doesn't get a surprise.
Good luck, and keep us posted on how things go.

I'm not sure how likely it is...but it's certainly possible. I wouldn't rule it out.
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
If u didnt find him i would most def check up stairs but dont give up hope I heard a story not to long ago about a red tailed boa that was gone for 9 months, and the person moved and the new owners(his friend, I guess) found him. So don't give up and good luck!!

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
K i've just looked everywhere once again. nowhere to be seen. ahhhhh. what should i do. so stressed about it.
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
It is a very stressful situation but BE COOL!!
You can not think with a clear head if your upset. I know from my own personal experience it is hectic when losing your beloved pet. BUT I kept it cool as a cucumber and later than sooner she showed up. Hopefully yours will not go the nine months like mine did. Good luck and your in my snakey prayers. LOL,
-Danny :please:

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
Thanks Tybalt. I've decided to keep cool and hope that he'll come back to me.

Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
Try the coke bottle trick.
Put a dead mouse in a (empty) coke bottle in the middle of a room. You're bp will hopefully get hungry enough to leave his secure spot and go for the mouse.
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
can i put a live mouse in a small cage because it likes his food alive

If you can figure out a way to put a mouse in a container that it can't get out of...but that the snake can get into....go for it.
-
Re: Escaped Ball, Need help.
does the snake stalk the cage with the mouse in it if it is closed?
