Progression Thread for Baby Pastel Female

Hi all! Saw some progression threads so thought I would make one for my new female pastel born ~ 5/15/16. She was 93 grams when I brought her home and she has already eaten once with me!

First meal at home! She was on live mouse hoppers at the reptile store, so I did that as her first meal with me. She killed it as soon as it was in the cage! (I was terrified, I have never fed a snake before -eek.)

Less than 24 hours after eating, she'll definitely get a larger meal next week!

As you can see, I take a TON of pictures! Am excited to share her progress with y'all because my friends/family aren't interested in snakes at all! I weighed her full at 103 grams 24 hours after that first meal, but will weigh her midway through the week as well. My best guess on her length is about 16" but I think I was way off!

Oh yeah! I need help with names! If you have any ideas, please let me know. This is the list I have so far:

Absolutely loving having my new girl, who is still nameless! I weighed her and she is at 103 grams. After the last feeding she didn't seem full and was quickly active again later that night, so I am going to feed her again tomorrow and do a larger mouse, and will be switching to rats (or trying to) soon!

my next female i get will be named Hope.. so far i have Bo (male Normal) Bonnie (female vanilla) and Clyde (male fire). i want to name all my snakes after stuff that i want to remember, much like how people get tattoos. there is always a meaning behind it. maybe this will help you come up with a name!

oh and i plan for my next female to be a pastel as well. just bought the heat tape and plan to set up another tub so i can purchase some time towards the end of the month!

I like those names! I just haven't found anything that really fits her yet. and exciting about the female pastel! I really love them :)

Thats my favorite right now! We really probably won't call her her name anyways. We use nicknames for all our animals haha!

I ended up feeding this little lady today instead of tomorrow. Her last mouse was definitely too small for her, and I'm on 24 hour call tomorrow and won't be able to feed her - plus I wanted to get her on a schedule of feeding during the week so I can handle her on my off days :) She got a small mouse this time (vs a hopper) which was 14g (she was 103g last time I weighed her), so it was close to right on for her! She took it like a champ once she came out of her hide and even ate it head first this time.

It's been two days since she ate so I decided to take her out and handle her. There was no poop or urates in the cage, but I weighed her anyways at 118g - up 25g from when I got her!!

She is a little head shy and skittish, but she's getting better about it every time I handle her! Def want her to be as calm as possible eventually. We were having a nice chill little relax session watching Greys Anatomy when all the sudden she poops/pees ALL OVER ME. Haha! Guess me wondering about why she hadn't pooped jinxed me. Sigh.

But I reweighed her and she's 111g empty! That's 18g up after two meals at home with me :)

Her CHE comes in the mail today - her ambient temps have been a little too low for my liking. The lamp base I got has a built in dimmer so I plan on trying it on the lowest setting to try and get the ambient temps right!

Still haven't decided on a name for her - nothing feels right! So please let me know if you have any ideas!

Thanks guys! I do like the name lily! And yeah she's a pretty girl! Her CHE came in today so I think she's much happier with her ambient temps being higher! And it doesn't seem to have affected the humidity much! Yay!

Also, she seems to have rubbed off on her big sister, Joey the Great Dane, who is currently balled up on the bed [emoji23]

Aaaand right after posting the above post she peed and pooped on my AGAIN. I swear, she is avoiding going in her cage just so she can go on me!

Feeding day was yesterday! She got a small mouse down (about 18g). Next week I'm going to try a rat pup - hopefully get her swapped to rats and the to F/T!

Right after she ate I came back to her being a tree boa [emoji23]

I'm on my 24 hour trauma call today ([emoji31][emoji30][emoji31][emoji30]), so I thought I'd post some pics of my girl!

She stayed up in the bamboo for like 12-15 hours after eating, before finally retreating to her hide.

I weighed her last night and she was up to 129g, but that's full, I'm awaiting a large poop. She was quite shy, she normally isn't. I've never seen her tie herself up quite like this.

And then when I checked on her early this morning, she was back to being a tree boa!

Edit: oh and Ps - I am considering the name Rue. From hunger games since Rue also liked climbing :)

She pooped in her cage (and not on me) finally, TWICE after that last feeding. One on Monday one on Tuesday. I swear she's a pooper lol! I only weighed her after her first poop and she was at 119g.

I fed her again on Tuesday. I really wanted to try her on a small rat pup but the store I go to didn't have any small enough, so she got another small mouse. When I got home she was already out hunting.

She then proceeded to hunt from her bamboo perch. I think she really is convinced she's a tree snake.

Then also eat it while still wrapped around the bamboo. I found it quite amusing. But eventually she did retreat to her hide for a while.

When I weighed her yesterday night she was 132g, but I'm still awaiting another poop.

I redid her tank today to hot glue wires down and change the substrate to reptibark because my humidity was giving me a hard time. I also added vines, and go figure, she loves them!

So! Little Rue took her first rat pup at her last feeding! She was on live hoppers when I first got her, so I've been slowly working towards F/T rats! She seemed to struggle a little bit more wrapping up and eating the rat but she eventually got it down :)

Unfortunately her shed was in pieces :( she really only had an issue with her tail though. I had her slither through a wet paper towel and now all is well.

I fed her once right before she shed and she was 165 before she shed, took the rat pup (about 20% of her weight) and she pooped so much she's only 166 now. She pooped both in her tank (normal poop) and then this weird diarrhea poop twice while I was having her slither through the towel. So I'm not sure if it was stress from the shed or what, but I feel like she didn't absorb any of the last rat. May hold off on feeding her during her next shed.

Anyways. She looks gorgeous and we went out and slithered around in the grass today, which she seemed to enjoy.

She's getting so big! I'm like amazed at how fast she's growing. She's now taken 2 prekilled rats with no problem, so this week I'll be trying F/T finally.
