    Can i do this?
I will be picking up a mystyc female from the NARBC show in tinley. She is just under 500 grams. Could i get her to breeding size by the end of the year or is that too much weight to gain? Im not in a hurry or anything but if she could be ready i have a male mojave for her.

I doubt she'd be ready. Most females get a little picky when they hit 700-800grams and I've never had a female breed before they turned 3 and produce eggs.

That's a lot of weight to gain.

I kinda thought it was alot of weight. O well at least that will give me time to get a girl ready for my spider. If only i knew what i was getting for him.

    What is the rush?

can she put on that much weight yes however breeding is not all about weight, I have seen 1 year old female sitting at 1200 grams doesn't mean I would breed a female like that.

    It's a age/size combination.

There is no rush she will get up to size in her own terms.

They need to be of age, as well as up to weight...

No rush at all. Just curious. I want to get 1 or two more females first. And then do ALOT of reading on here before i even try to breed anything.

I know how you feel. I'm getting my first breeder female next week. A Mystic Pastel born in Nov '12. I'm hoping she'll lock up with my Spider Mojave male, but not until NEXT fall. I'm not trying to rush things. Hopefully she'll be 1400+ grams and ready by then. Never been so excited about something I have to be so patient for.

My bee at 1.5 years was 1500 grams. I'm waiting until she is 2 years old before I breed her.

Yea thats true. I am not usually a patient guy but when it comes to my snakes i try extra hard to do things right for them. Are you planning on getting more females for your spider mojave or just the 1 female?

yes! my Spider who was born in November of 2011 weighed in November 2012 1600 grams. Now she is over 2000 grams. Very possible. But is she ready to breed now. No. Because she still has to be a least 2 or 3 years of age.

Well I do plan on getting a female Mojave or Mojave combo to go with the Mojave Spider. I do want to try to breed super Mojos, but I think my Mystic Pastel female is gonna be reserved for my Spider Mojave male. I want them to lock as many times as possible. I have a 1/16 chance at a worlds first 4 gene combo. Also anything from this combo is gonna be awesome!

Not necessarily true. RobNJ had a female lay at 18months.

Theres no set rules for them. Its not like EVERY girl turns 12 and all of the sudden can get pregnant. Its not like every girl hits 4.5ft/90lbs and all of the sudden she can get pregnant. Some mature slowly and some mature quickly. And the stupid ones end up on 16 and Pregnant! :D

Like others have said, you might be able to get her up to weight, but that alone doesn't make her breedable. Age is also pretty important.
