Just triple checking - this is on the outside of the enclosure yes?

    ( I know, I know - but I'd hate myself if I didn't check )

I use foil tape. I tape them down to the shelf and set the tub on top. I tape the tstat probe to the UTH and to the shelf itself so it doesn't come loose.

There is definitely different levels of quality of tape. But it helps to ensure the surface is free of any dust, dirt, debris, oil, wax, grease etc to obtain proper adhesion. A quick wipe with some alcohol should clean it up nice.

Worst case scenario, they only had low quality tape and the heat is causing the adhesive to lose its strength.

Like redshepherd, I tape the probe to the Flexwatt itself, so the tub is portable and wire free. I'm using electrical tape that is rated for 220 degrees F.

After six month's use it's still as secure as day one.

Guess I'm the odd ball that always uses duct tape. My problem with foil tape was never it not sticking, it was getting the crap off when I needed to remove it.

    OMIGOSH, yes !!!!!!!!! LOL

Basically, looking at the enclosure then going from the outside/bottom of it down towards whatever it sits on. Enclosure bottom (OUTSIDE), probe, heat-tape, Styrofoam, whatever it sits on.

All on the outside. I was thinking that I just got the luck of the draw with a bad quality of tape. I did do a wipe down and let it dry before putting both UTHs on.
Wouldn't harm to experiment on the extra supplies and free time I have this weekend.
