Wow. Awesome input everyone. Thanks a lot for the feedback. I think I'll move the speakers so that they're not directly touching the shelves. I don't play my music THAT loud so I'm not as worried about the sound so much as the speakers themselves shaking the whole unit.

Also, I've only had my new roommate for four or five days now so I'm not entirely sure what 'normal' behavior is for him anyhow.

Another quick question, I bought him on a Friday and they told me that the last time he was fed was the previous Saturday. I've read that younger snakes should be eating every 5-7 days but that you should also leave them undisturbed in their new environment for about two weeks. That would mean that when it comes time to feed him it will have been three weeks since his last feeding. Being new to snakes, this seems like a long time to go without food. Any thoughts?

    Thanks again.

Classical music in most species has positive effects. I would not doubt that a study on snakes with classical music has been done. However, if you yourself would want to do one -- it would have to be very tightly controlled.

Ah! I didn't register the whole human baby thing :D

I fed mine 5 days after getting him but I did pretty much leave him alone for the first 5 days. He ate fine and has been eating great ever since.
