    Plaxico, Jail time?
Should Plaxico Burress get the mandatory 3.5 years jail time for having an illegal concealed weapon in NYC?
He is 30 now and that would just about end his career. I think he was the death of the Giants season.

Yes. Just because he is a football player doesn't mean he has the right to carry a gun. He should face the same punishment than anyone else would.

Lock 'em up. If I shot myself in the leg at a club, I would be gone for 3.5 yrs....so should he.

i could be wrong, but i think NY's hand gun laws are some of the more strict in the states...

i know in michigan it'd be a slap on the wrist, or maybe just a pat on the butt and a 'git er done', i'm not sure which.

California and New York are among the last few States in the nation that do not recognize the rights granted under the 2nd amendment whereas anyone that is not a convicted felon or has a history of mental illness must be granted a license to carry a concealed handgun upon request. A resident of those States would probably view this as quite a serious crime and could reasonably argue that this is the law. In Michigan if you carry a concealed pistol without being properly licensed and having received the training in order to be licensed, which covers the laws, safety and shooting training on a firing range the penalty is 2 years imprisonment. I wonder if Plaxico is licensed in another State and perhaps a charge of carrying in an unauthorized location might come into play as a result of hiring a good attorney. This would result in a fine in New York and a possible revocation of his license in the issuing State. If he isn't licensed anywhere, he's a dumbo.

Dale NYC has very strict gun laws but CA is just the opposite. Very easy to get a gun in Cali, not the case in N.Y.

In NYC it is virtually impossible for an average citizen to even own a handgun legally. Even the Police are made to carry guns with an extra heavy trigger pull. In California you can own one (barring a huge list of guns that are deemed as politically incorrect), but it is not easy to get licensed to carry one. Most States today have a shall issue law, where the State cannot deny an honest citizen the right to carry a concealed hand gun. In California if you aren't connected the Kommisar can and will deny you.
