Ruining my flexwatt

I am on my third piece of ruined flexwatt....I cannot seem to solder. I keep burning through the flexwatt.

How did everyone do this? Is it just because I am an inexperienced solderer or is it really this hard????:mad:

It's a pain. I gave up and just started using the clips.

I ordered the clips from ebay, it takes a special hand to solder, and I don't have it lol, besides the clips are so easy.

I know, I should have ordered the clips. I finally got the hang of it....sort of. I am finishing my rack today and this is the last step. Go figure it has turned into the hardest...

Sodering does take a smooth hand. I'm decent with it but I prefer heat cable bc it's easier for me. When sodering you have to becareful to not touch the peice that you are sodering. I lightly touch the soder line ( don't really know what it's called but it's like the metal string that makes the bead) and let it drip on to what ever I'm sodering. Sometimes have to make the Bead touch whatever I'm sodering. Get the bead right on the point of the iron and it should fall right off. But keep in mind my sodering is terrible too. Lol. It probably looks awful to a professional. But I've successful sodered heat tape, without killing it and it held up for at least 1 1/2 year before I switched to heat cable. So I must have done something right. Im not a very handy person at all so I end up bumbling through it. Lol
