    Platty Daddy?
    Ok so what is the only way to produce PD's.
    After watching Ralphs latest video I am lost and disapointed because this has been a project I've been working on hoping to produce some plattys.
    Can you produce platty daddy with a sibbling from a lesser x normal pairing,by breeding the normal back to a lesser.

    from what i understand, you can't produce a platty daddy from breeding the normal sibs from just a lesser back to the snake.

    You need the normal looking sibs FROM the platty daddy. Breed that back to the lesser and then you can get a PD.

    if the lesser had the "hidden gene", then it would be a PD and not just a lesser.

    I guess you could potentially get a normal sib from the Platty Daddy, breed that to a Lesser and then breed those to each other and hope for a platty daddy (also you may end up getting a bel super hidden or some bel het hiddens)

    It would work out if it's a hom hidden trait and is probably the fastest way.

    There is a huge debate about the hidden gene from the Platty Daddy and the hidden gene from the Nerd Line Hidden Gene Womas, possibly being the same hidden gene.

    Many threads have been discussed over these very things.

    Once Asplundii comes across this thread I'm sure more light will be revealed. :gj:

    Actually just breeding the normal sib (fathered by a platty daddy ) and the lesser should give you a shot at platty daddys in the clutch. :)

    I think it would break down to;

    25% lessers
    25% platty daddys

    and

    50% normal looking - half of which would be carrying the hidden platty gene (or het plattys as Ralph called them ).

    I guess you would have to describe those as 50% poss het plattys as there would be no way to positively identify the true hets? :confused:

    I don't think it is possible to get BEL super hiddens or het hiddens as the genes are alleles.

    If it was a BEL it got two lesser genes therefore cannot have got the hidden gene at all.

    Breeding two platty daddys should give you;

    25% lessers
    25% homozygous hidden
    50% platty daddys

    Er...... I think. :oops:

    There is NO hidden gene in a "Hidden Gene Woma". :O :confused: :weirdface

    If you don't believe me, ask Kevin McCurley. The information came directly from his mouth to my ear. (Well.....there was a phone line in between them ;))

    so you saying that NERD has been jipping people off saying that there is a hidden gene in there Womas?

    Not at all. As I understand it Kevin imported two different wild caught animals that he originally thought might be the same mutation. As he begin to breed them one of the two produced some really cool combos while the other did not. Thinking there might be a hidden gene in the line that was producing the cool stuff, he gave it that name to distinguish between the two lines.

    He has since determined that the two lines of Womas are actually two completely different mutations, one of which makes some awesome combos and one of which does not.
