    And then WOBP hit 4,002

    http://www.worldofballpythons.com/

WOBP passed the four thousand mark! Just think where this is headed for next year. Then what? Another thousand morphs added?

It was three thousand nine hundred and ninety-one yesterday. Which of the newest combos you you like best? These ones are pretty cool:

This one thing I don't get about ball pythons. Why name gene combos? Pastel Pinstripe got named Lemon Blast. Ok and the creator of an new combo gets to name it. Ok, lets have some fun. Let's say I breed an Enchi to a Lemon Blast and get an Enchi Lemon Blast. Then I prove out a dinker in a pastel X dinker clutch and I decide to name my new gene (whatever) and the Pastel Dinker combo, "Enchi Lemon Blast". Now how do you tell are real Enchi Lemon Blast from my newly named combo, "Enchi Lemon Blast".

I bred 3 Super Pastel Spiders this year, to me that is so much better than saying Killer Bees. The uninitiated have no idea a "Bee" is a Pastel Spider. True it's probably the first combo you learn but the total number of combos will soon exceed any normal person's memory, and every time you see a new name you'll have to go to WOBP to see if it is a gene or a combo.

    Just my 2 cents.

It's just a learning process SamO. Some breeders only work with certain morphs and stick to their combos. I like the named combos myself, it's all personal preference really.

Breeders who come up with new combos (usually when working with new genes) name them for marketing purposes as a way to get people excited for their animals. It started with the first pastel spider aka bumblebees.

Hell Marketing? I thought it was cause most people into BP are either current or Ex Stoners. Look at the names they choose.

I really like the dragonfly pied but that orbit gene looks like it has potential. Love what it did to the mochi combo

The single gene orbit is actually pretty cool. Too bad it's not in the US, I'd love to have one. It would be nice to see that orbit combo as an adult.
