Lightbulb Changing my mind for something better... (i think) need help

Im prety sure im going to have to many posts here someday XD

I already have a OSB terrarium but im spending more money on making it BP proof that with anything else.
So i have to give up on it for something that i should have thought about in the first place.

First! - Im thinking of getting a plastic container like what its seen on racks
Second! - i have really rigid carton terrarium edges protectors that came with one of my other enclosures and i will used them to support the plastic container and have it maybe 3cm above the surface im going to have it in. That is going to allow me to put a under tank heater (thermostat has well) that will not touch the plastic and melt it. Plus a tile beneath the heater so that there is no wood burning hazard.

i believe this setting will make it much easier to maintain temp and humidity, plus will not even cost to much.

    Any ideas? Good setting?
    Thank you!

A lot of people like tubs, so it should work!

A UTH shouldn't melt the plastic if you have a thermostat on it. If plastic melted at 90 degrees we'd have a pretty big problem .

DO IT!! I am a HUGE proponent for large tupperware tubs. I have two of my BPs in large weathershield tupperware containers: They lock on all sides, so no chance of escape, they maintain humidity perfectly, and they are a good size even for a big BP. My only issue with my biggest BP is she is almost at 5 feet and over 10 pounds, and STILL growing, so I'm actually going to fashion two large tubs connected with a huge piece of PVC pipe. I'm going to seal the edges so there's nothing sharp. This way she has a large hide on the warm and cool side, and it's a helluva lot cheaper than an acrylic tank or rack system. Total spent is maybe $40.

Anyway, if going with the tupperware just monitor your humidity. If you don't put enough holes your humidity will be way high. I had to drill a LOT in one tank because my humidity would not come down from 95%, haha... But now it's perfect and I don't need to mist, use sphagnum moss, or anything.

    Good luck!

Or at 103 degrees, which is where I have to set my flexwatt to get 89-90 on the surface of the paper towel.

Tubs are very popular here. No one will criticize you for using one. Some may make suggestions on the setup which can be very helpful.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Well, yeah, me too. But still, we're talking mammal body temperature, it's not going to melt or even warp plastic .

OK, I found a chart and apparently some plastics do soften at 90f: http://www.pvc.org/en/p/heat-distort...ng-temperature
But most tubs are made of polypropylene so that doesn't soften until about 135f.

A thermostat is what you need.

    Have several already XD
Best one is a on/off for the heat mat or a dimmer?
