Difference between desert ghost and pastel axanthic?

Hi, I visited a pet shop over the weekend and they had a snake that i thought right away was a desert ghost. I asked the store worker what it was and they said the owner had forgotten and it had been purchased before she started working there. She thought it was a mojave ghost but it had completely normal patterning and was definetly the grey of desert ghost and not the yellow of a normal ghost. I wasn't comfortable buying a snake with unknown genetics and i still am not. On the way home I tried to look up other morphs and found that a pastel axanthic is very close. Is there any indicators that tell that a snake is for sure a desert ghost vs other morphs?

A desert ghost is not grey and does not look like a pastel axanthic.

Desert ghosts as babies look similar to normals but with a milky sand color. The real magic happens as they get older . Adults look completely different. Definitely nothing like pastel axanthic. Check out world of ball pythons.

Re: Difference between desert ghost and pastel axanthic?

I will contact the store and see if i can get any pictures. They are in a town over so not easily available. I have checked out world of ball pythons and looking at pictures like these:

    http://newenglandreptile.com/webpics/oct1dg2.jpg

    http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p.../Jacki792g.jpg

I thought they looked pretty similar which is why i started this thread. And I don't know what color you would call that if not gray. I was just looking for some notable way to distinguish between them. Other than that they apparently look nothing alike, nothing has been said. I will still try to get pics to try to figure out exactly what he is as I am definetly curious.

EDIT: Even the thread i took the first picture from states that it looks just like a pastel axanthic to them. http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...ert-Ghost-*PIC*
