    Eggs!

Well came home today with rats to try to get my guys eating again and the first I tried to feed was my fem butter. Open the tub and to my surprise...yep you guessed it...EGGS! So since I never saw the glow before the go part I wasn't sure if she was going to take. Well she did! I am thinking sometime on Mon, tues of this week. Question is I just found the eggs tonight. Figuring they were in there almost a full week. They look dehydrated. Now I was in a bad panic mode and managed to find an incubator to borrow. Got some moss for now till I get vermiculite to hold moisture. Will the eggs come back to looking somewhat normal? There are 8 total and all have veins! I am hoping that they will be ok. When should I expect them to pip since it happen this week? What temp should I keep it at? Right now it is at 86 and 80 humidity out side tubs. Tubs have slits in lids and are moist. They should b at least the temps of the surrounding air. Some Help would be great since this is my first clutch. TIA!! BTW the pairing is a butter x fire spider. Here are the eggs.

    Re: Eggs!

Thanks, I usually do check them everyday but they been off feed and so I make sure water is full and clean and temps are good. This week was a busy week and did a complete cleaning last sunday. I always clean all paper at least once a week. Since they haven't been eating they haven't been going much either. Anyway thanks for that. I am hoping for a nuclear spider.....they look awesome!!

    Thumbs up Re: Eggs!

Congrats on the clutch! Calm down and set that incubator to 89F - 90F and make sure your humidity is 95% - 100%, Make sure the moss is not too wet. The vermiculite should just be damp also. Good luck!

    Re: Eggs!

Thanks, this is my very first attempt and so I am excited and nervous altogether. Now they were laid this week 4/15/15 + - a day or so. When would I expect them to start hatching? End of may? Mid june?

    Re: Eggs!

I'd say early/Mid June. Around the 7th-13th of June. June 10th would be day 56 assuming they were laid on the 15th of April. Which would also be around the time some/most people cut their eggs to make it easier on the little ones to get out. Congrats on the eggs!

Those eggs will be fine. If they are incubated correctly they will be nice and plump within a couple weeks. I incubate at cooler temps I like 85-88 area. That way a spike won't kill them and it only adds a day or two to the length of time for them to hatch. I always check temps with a heat gun directly on the egg. Incubator and egg temps are always different. Also mix the vermiculite 1:1 with water by weight. If they are dehydrated yet when you put them in the vermiculite bury them 3/4 into the vermiculite. Once they plump up leave them 1/4 to 1/2 buried. Good luck and don't worry too much.

    Re: Eggs!

Thanks, but I can find any vermiculite(sold out 3 places) so I bought perilite. Should I do it the same as far as bury 3/4 til they plump then 1/4 to half? I know perilite is mixed 1:1 by weight also.

    Re: Eggs!

OK eggs in perlite. I mixed 1:1 and put eggs in about 3/4 deep. Question...is it me or do first time with eggs you want to keep checking them? Its hard but I guess I just need to leave them be. I cut knife slits in one container and 2...1/4 inch holes in the other. will that be ok? and I guess no need to vent containers after so long? Thanks for all the other info and input. Very Helpful.
