    Heat lamp?

    Hi everyone so i helped my girlfriend set up her rescued bps tank and she wants light lol. She has the dome light holder just no light. What is an ok watt amount light to get?

    It depends on where you live, I live in southern california and it gets pretty hot so i only use a red 75 watt with a dimmer and no under tank heater. If you live in a colder climate get a bulb with a higher wattage.

    Being in Texas, our winters are usually a joke compared to most of the nation. But this year it got much colder and lasted longer. I keep 75, 100, and 150 on hand and switch them about.

    Plus back ups! (Referring to another thread)

    Do you just want a light? With little heat? If so a simple led bulb will be fine. If you want heat it is too broad to answer and ultimatly you will have to try and see what works. i would start low like 25-50w and go up if needed.

    Update i went and just got a simple 50 watt day light bulb i already have her tank set up with a under tank heat pad

    Make sure that UTH is controlled by a thermostat. Otherwise they get very hot and will burn your snake.
