    Question Possible health problem?

Lastnite i cleaned out my little retic and i noticed a small lump by his jaw, So first thing i done ws ring the vets. They said to ring in the morning which i did, And the only herp vet i trust is on holiday for a week. So i go and check on my retic and the lump is gone? There's no puss, Liquid or anything around his mouth, Heat pits or nostrils. He ate 2 large weaner rats on Sunday nite and ate them with no problem, He's his normal active self like nothings wrong. I know that snakes are able to hide an illness (or so thats what i've been told) Thats why i'm going out of town to find a herp vet, So has anyone seen anything like this with there retics? Thanks.

yep, could've just been some skin pushed from the snake pushing on the edge of the enclosure trying to escape. When they push for extended periods of time, they can push their own teeth through their lips / jaws / etc. and this will cause them to stick together. After they remove them, a lump can be left. But if its fairly minor, it will leave the snake fairly quickly. Carefully pull down on the bottom lip of the tic and check the interior of its mouth for any discharge that may be hidden. Look on the bottom of the lip for any red dots that could indicate a tooth poked there. This can help you at least get an idea of what's going on.

As always though, when in doubt, seek a vet. But this sounds pretty routine to me as long as it was a small lump - any photos?
