Would it be ok to feed my new baby today?

I got him on Monday and I've been told to wait a week before feeding and handling, but the thing is he last ate last Wednesday, he's only 17 inches , and pretty active at night.

Shouldn't a hatchling his size eat every 4-5 days? Today will be his 8th day without a feed and
I'm really tempted to pick up some food for him tonight.

He seems well settled for what it's worth, I actually held him on Wednesday (very briefly) and he was fine, super relaxed and didn't even ball. I've actually never seen him ball. The first day and night he didn't hide at all, but since then he's been hiding in the day time and exploring at night.

I planned to feed him this Sunday, but idk I kind if feel bad that it'll be his 11th day without a feed. I want to at least offer it to him today.

You can feed him just like he can also wait, either one is fine.

Should they eat every 4 to 5 days, they can, does not mean they have too, a pet BP does fine eating once a week and a solid routine does help, if you want to feed more it's ok too.

The bottom line you need to find what work for you and your snake.

i usually try to feed my new ball pythons the first day i bring them home,

i put them in their tub wait till it is evening and then just try to see if they will take it.

and what i noticed is that alot of them will take it after a couple of seconds when they realise it is food that is running around

Won't hurt to try. I have mine on a weekly feeding schedule, except my adult male is every ten days, but he is eating larger rodents. Also I refrain from feeding if mine are going to shed.

I offer first day with success almost every time, I'd go ahead and give your little guy a meal.

So I went and got him some fuzzys. How do I know if he needs more than one? The place I got him told me their babies are currently eating hoppers, but the local pet store was sold out.

No, fuzzy mice. The reptile store I got him from told me he had eaten pre killed hoppers, but I couldn't find any hoppers at the store near me today.

    Anyhoo he didn't eat :/

I really was expecting him to since I was sure he was hungry, but he seemed offended that I was trying! Guess I'll try again in a few days. I'll just let him be for a while.

I don't think they have the mentality to be offended, but try again in a few days

If he doesnt strike of tongs, dont take it away, Place it over there warm spot (to keep the mouse from becomming cold and dead like.) But leave in there come back in morning they'll usually be gone.
