flickr is like photobucket to where you can upload & store photos on the web, but its also like a facebook of photographers & photo lovers. People of all photography levels can get on there and post their work wether or not they are taking photos for fun or as a job. A lot of people use flickr to get critiques on their photos or learn new "non-traditional" techniques that you may or may not hear about on other sites.
