    Pooping question

Hi there! I am a new owner to a pretty 1 year old ball python named Violet. We bought her at a reptile show about 4 weeks ago. My question is, should I feed her another rat even though she has not pooped since her last feeding 11 days ago? She did poop the day we got her but has not since. She has only had one rat since we got her. She would not eat for the first 2 weeks. I have heard that we should wait to feed her until after she has gone to the bathroom. Her temp and humidity are good and she has a fresh water bowl. We have never had a pet snake so this is new to us. Please help! Thanks so much for your advice.

    Re: Pooping question

Yes, feed her. BPs poop at different times and sometimes they are close together or very spaced apart. Once she has a few more meals in her you should get a nice juicy one

    I love that book.

Offering them food on a regular schedule is a great way to help provide your snake with what it likes...consistency. It has been my experience that Balls that are kept on a close schedule are better feeders and over all happier snakes.

    Re: Pooping question

If she is really young, she can be fed every 5 days. If she is a juvenile, you can move her to every 7 days. I would NEVER wait until my snakes pooped before I fed them. Lord, knows they go long enough in between as it is. LOL

    Everything living poops....
To the OP: Do you wait to eat until you've pooped? Does anything wait to eat until it has pooped? Course not! Offer the prey on a regular schedule and your snake will do what it is supposed to do!!
