Re: looking for the biggest snake found on record

i was just watching a show on nat geo the other day where they were finding retics in some cave (decent show)... anyway, they went and remeasured and weighed what they said is the longest known living snake (in indonesia). i think it was like 28 ft and 200+lbs or something. definitely was huge but not as heavy as some of the burm and condas out there.

I believe there's still a standing reward of like $50k for a living snake over 30 feet, but it's never been claimed.

the show was on National Geographic, and I think it was called "Dangerous Encounters with Brady Barr"...? It was a little lame in my opinion... he's clearly terrified of retics, CB ones and wild ones alike...

here's a pic of yet another of bob's large ones (not fluffy), and obviously this is not my pic, but I don't have a link to it or anything, just have the picture saved... this is what I was saying looked to be a little too chubby...

Yeah..Bob has them a bit overfed for the "show" factor. They would be a bit more appealing if they had healthy slenderness to them instead of the "fat" look.

Re: looking for the biggest snake found on record

I've seen the longest (legally owned) snake in captivity. She's a retic named Fluffy (strange name for a snake, isn't it?) in Asian section of the Colombus Zoo. She's 24 feet long and they (usually) feed her 10-20 pounds of rabbit. When I saw her (she was resting though), I couldn't get over that head. It was so darn big! I've heard rumors of the 49-foot collosal python, but I highly doubt it could be real.
