    Lightbulb Helix Probe Placement!

A couple people sent me PM's asking about how I place my Temperature Probe for my Helix's onto the heat tape, so hear is a pic. The piece of plastic I use is actually just a piece of plastic that I cut off of one of the lids for a CB-70, but I guess you could use the lid from whatever kind of tub you have. Then I place the probe on the plastic piece, and cover it with some folded up paper towel. Tape all of that together with 2" packing tape. Then I tape the whole assembly to the heat tape using 2" packing tape. My theory in doing this is that I get readings in the tub that are closer to the temperature displayed on my Helix, because the probe is measuring temperature through the same plastic that my tubs are made of. In theory it's like putting the probe in a tub without having to put the probe in the tub.

it works for you! that's good. i just like taping the probe directly to the tape and controlling the temp of the tape itself ( if i set my helix to 94, i get 90-92 in the tubs). different way same result! there's more than one way to heat a ball! lol

You'll see enough of what others do tomorrow ... do some light stretching when you wake.

I think that's one of the coolest things about this site ... we're like a big dysfunctional family ... you know, like after Thanksgiving dinner when everyone is sitting around in the living room and Uncle Tim and Uncle Lawrence are talking about how they're kickin ace in the stock market and cousin "slow Adam" and Uncle Kracker just start talking about jelly beans out of no where? .... That's just how we roll ... keep it lite, learn a few things, share a few things, and have fun ... the ball python world is normally wound so tight you can hear a mite f@rt ... here, people are really into their animals but we all have a good time.

    ROCK the clutch ON!!!
