    National Geographic - Super Snake

For those that missed it...it's on again today at 3 p.m. EST. From all I've heard it was pretty cool so Mike and I are going to watch it and likely tape it for our own little growing herp library.

Re: National Geographic - Super Snake

Cool! I read a few threads on it all over forums and really want to see it! I usally enjoy National Geographic shows more than Discovery. Yay I finally have a day to just sit and watch TV. Probably not a good thing...

If you check that link Kelly, you can even have National Geographic send you automatic emails 24 hours before a show you want to watch or find a show you missed and get the next few show dates for it. Go N.G. Go! lol

Amazing! I thought I knew a fair amount about big snakes but that was so incredibly cool. Now I see what the hype was all about. Thanks Jo!

Re: National Geographic - Super Snake

Just saw the special and was completely sucked in by it. I did have to change the channel every now and then because my fiance was bitten by a BP on her face before. But other than that she loved it as well.

Re: National Geographic - Super Snake

Nah, they do the first ever squeeze force test on a 23 foot green anaconda. I guess it is equal to the pressure of a school bus on a human's chest. It was awesome. And I knew that there were 4 rows of teeth on the top, but I didn't know the 2 inner rows moved in that climbing motion.

It also had pictures of an actual recorded death from a Reticulated Python. Had the guys head swallowed, but couldn't get over the shoulders. Kinda creepy.

Re: National Geographic - Super Snake

Just check that link Judy. It's on if I remember at least 2 more times in April and perhaps again in March. Just have the National Geographic send you an auto-email to remind you about it (gotta love that site LOL).

It was an amazing program. Lots of information but not a lot of hype and sensationalism. The computer models of the mouth/jaw structure was just fascinating as well as the pressure exerted by the coils of that green anaconda. I do like the National Geographic programs the best...they inform but they don't play to the audience with the "ohhh look big scarey evil "fill in name of creature here" hoopla that some other shows do.
