ideal humidity for incubation?

i have a clutch in the incubator, and no matter what i do, the humidity seems to stay between 75-80%. i'd prefer it higher. is this ok?

Should be 95% or higher. How is your egg tub set up and what kind of hygrometer are you using?

Consider changing the type of tub you are using or add some clear press and seal over the tub top then secure the lid over the press and seal. That always puts my humidity at 99%.

i'm using one of those 6 qt plastic tubs (bought from home depot) with a vermiculite mix. the humidity guage is the kind they sell at petco.

It has to be as close possible to 100%, the good news it often is as most hygrometer are often of.

You can use press and seal also if it helps but most importantly try not to mess with your eggs if you do, the people opening their eggs box everyday just to check don't always realize it's a good way to loose humidity.

The true test will be to see how your eggs are doing in a few days (if possible without opening), obviously if they deflate early in the incubation, than you really have a humidity issue.

the tom brady rule is not in effect here (appears to be no deflation). i'm still going to grab some of that saran wrap though.

More than likely your hygrometer is off like mentioned above. . None of my hygrometer show anything above 92% and my exo terra ones very rarely go above 88%

did the plastic wrap thing and put in a different humidity guage. reads 85% now. guess i'll have to hope for the best.

the incubator does have a glass door, and condensation has been building up on the inside. that's a good sign, right?

The actual product is called "press and seal" it's more tub friendly bc it adheres to the edges of the tub to seal it. You have to make sure you press it onto the edge of the tub and pull it taut as you apply it to the tub edges. If it's applied properly your humidity should be higher than 85%
