    Re: Ursula

Funny story. It was feeding day for shag so I thawed a small rat pup for Ursula. Well she was in her hide and I couldn't see her so I placed the rat in front of the entrance and immediately there was this flash and no rat in my tongs any longer. She had grabbed the rat and back into the hide she went. Scared the stuff out of me. lol
as said she has not hissed or struck but when I pulled the hide off of her for this picture she was hissing loudly and her tail was going 90 to nothing. I'm going to love her.
Also I had stopped by a pet shop for a weaned rat feeder and when I got home and weighed it it was 90g, too big. So much for my judgement when picking feeders. I must go by weight.

@ ziggy - your Bulls are really nice and their size is awesome. That will be me holding Ursula before too long.

Haha. You got to see and hear that Pit fury T. It's a bit more intimidating when their mouths aren't full and they're all S'd up and striking at you. It's all a bluff though. Congrats on the successful first feeding. They really are garbage disposals. You've got enough snakes now that you'll never waste another rejected feeder.

Yeah zigg. I actually did get to see the gaping mouth because as soon as I lifted the hide she dropped the rat, cocked and looked at me like if you want this rat back you have to go through me and then she struck at me. A few seconds of me not moving and she went back to eating. She was a maniac and the hissing was loud and intimidating. Great experience. 😉

Love her. Pits are so much fun unfortunately I have only had the opportunity to play with wild ones. Would love to add one or two to my collection.

That's awesome T. Your girl is almost 500g so I know that must have been a show. She-ra was a beastly 42g when she arrived on 1/16/14. I put on a glove when she started hissing . She's a total sweetheart now though.

Feeding time is at least half the fun of working with pits. Even normally calm animals can turn crazy when food is presented. I have a couple now that I have to just toss meals at as they've mastered the art of swerving around the prey and latching onto the hand that feeds them.

    Re: Ursula

Feeding this girl is exhilarating. Her strike is so fast that it's easy to miss. And the reach is unbelievable. I mean the rat/mouse can be 10" away from her and in a flash she has taken it. Absolutely no indecision here. I love it.

    Re: Ursula

T- my advice is to get a long set of tongs for your girl. That strike range is only going to increase . I'm glad to hear Ursula is doing well bud.
