I have a normal ball python that has this... she looks like she is in constant shed at all times, except for the eyes. The only time you can tell she is shedding is when she has blue eyes... so I know what you mean, but she is not het for anything... and this "clouded" look has not been shared with her off spring. I also have a sugar 100% het hypo that has this going on... not really sure what to say about it.

Re: Black Pewter Ghost, what gives?!
Although i'm not an expert yet and co-dom, dom, and resessive genes. I do own a Mojave Orange Ghost. And from what I know of resessives both parents have to have the resessive gene either het or visual to carry that to the baby. Again i'm no expert but if I were to guess i'd say both parents had the gene for it to carry over. Even in the other person's comment about having a normal that came out ghost.
1.0 Mojave Orange Ghost
1.0 Lemon Pastel Bumblebee
1.0 Banana/Coral Glow
0.1 Super Specter
0.1 Lesser
0.1 Fire YB Pewter

Forgive the noobness of my question but, why? What does it mean if that pops up in a ball?

I like how the top one goes from that wide faded band down his whole back and then the tail has a nice thin little stripe of solid color.

Hatchlings from albino and axanthic clutches can come out looking hypo. I had an albino from my snow clutch come out looking like it could go either way, but after two sheds it's obviously albino now. Give it a while, I bet it colors up.
