    17 gram baby doing well!

I have a little miracle growing in my snake room! June 12 I had a 17 gram baby hatch. She was a twin and the other was DOA. I had a second set of twins in this same clutch that were also DOA. This little female has one micro eye and one normal eye. Her first meal was an assist feed and I gave her both front legs of a newborn rat pink. Her second meal was the two hind legs of a newborn rat pink. I am happy to say that today she was able to get an entire newborn rat pink down (assisted of course). She is a hungry little girl and I think she may pull through.

Awesome to see. I, too, hatched out a tiny baby just like that. Thankfully though when she hatched she was eager to start her life. Ate well from the start.

How did you feed the front half, then back? Did you cut it in half...

LOL. I cut the legs off the pink at the thigh and shoulder, kind of like quartering a chicken only MUCH smaller scale. I am happy to say that her next two meals she was able to swallow the entire 4 gram pink rats.
