Dented looking scales on my BP

Hi Guys,

Not too sure what these are on my python so I thought I'd ask you. They first appeared about 3 weeks before a shed and are now there after his shed.

That isn't my photo or BP but the markings are exactly the same.

They look dented and I was wondering what they are.

Looks like some sort of rub mark. Is there anything in the enclosure they could be scraping against (decorations, lid, etc)?

There is a butter tub. But his main hide is a proper reptile hide. He's also got a log which is rough, but not too rough. Other than that there is a really soft plant and his waterbowl. That's it.

Patches of his belly scales can also be peeled back a little bit as well.

Also his vivarium is 32.5 degrees at one side and about 25-26 at the other. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Unfortunately the thermostat wont let me have 30-31. It's either 28 or 32-33

I'm gonna guess those temps are in celsius, not fahrenheit, ahaha. Temps sound right, I think Eric is on the money and there's something in the environment causing it. You might have to sit up and quietly observe your snake one night to see if there's anything he rubs against often that could be a culprit.

I missed this part last time. Any chance you could get a clear picture of your own snake? Now that I am on my computer vs my phone, the picture you posted looks like a healing injury, not dented scales as you're describing. It doesn't change my original thought, but it's hard to say for sure when we're not looking at the actual area itself, ya know?

However, last night his belly was pink. So he maybe in blue. If I can get a clear picture I will

Oh I forgot this was an American website! Yes sorry... Celsius haha. I'll post a picture tonight and see if you guys can tell what it is.

Here are the images.

In the first 2 you can see the "dented scales"

In the third one you can see his scales slightly peeled back. It's like that in patches around the side of his belly.

That doesn't really look like anything to worry about IMO. Could easily be caused by him rubbing up against cage decor or something like that. Just keep an eye on the area and watch for any changes, but I don't think it's a problem.
