    Breeding ups and downs

Breeding always have it’s ups and downs and while I was looking forward to this season things have not been what I was hoping for. My big female Albino was egg bound with 32 slugs, and while the smaller laid 14 eggs only 7 were fertile and 2 died during incubation, leaving me with only 5 good eggs.

Yes it sucks however the following pictures are what keep any breeder going even when not everything goes as smoothly as we hope for.

First pipper 4 more to go.

Thanks, my girl is doing great, like nothing happened, back on food and back to normal.

That is really good, then even with lost eggs, I am happy that your female the surviving eggs are doing well. There really are risks, but even humans have issues sometimes giving birth but it doesn't stop couples from trying. It comes with the territory. Good luck in the future! Wish we could have these neat little hog noses here.

Sorry to hear how things have gone but at least it appears you may have 5 viable babies. That one is so cute. Glad to hear your female is alright.

Sorry to hear about your struggles and losses. But I can see how those lives in your hand make it all worth while.

    Thanks for sharing.
