    Super Cinny Problems

Question: do the occurrences of the the problems common in super cinnys (duck bill, kinking) stay at the same rate when you have other morphs mixed in? For example: would a super pewter (super cinny/super pastel) have the same likelihood to kink as a snake that is super cinny only?

The issues are associated with the gene so anywhere the gene is present there will be the chance of those issues regardless of any other genes that are also present

    Re: Super Cinny Problems

I saw three perfect super cinnys yesterday at repticon. I talk to the breeder and he said he lowered the temps slightly and none of them showed signs of kinking or duck bills. Maybe it was a fluke or maybe he is on to something.

Maybe. I don't think I'm going to risk it unless I see other people proving the method out first though. Could be he just got lucky on that clutch.

    Re: Super Cinny Problems

My breeder never has kinking or undeveloped snakes with his black pastel x black pastel breeding because of his lines I guess. I have heard the Ian G lines from Outback Reptiles do not produce kinked animals. Duck bills are different but usually cause no harm to the snake.

Putting together everyone's experiences I have talked to, I think genetics has more to do with how bad the kinks or duck billing is rather than incubation temps. Some people hatch out quite a bit of kinked animals, while others might only get one every 50th animal.

Yeah, I don't even particularly want just a super cinny. More interested in the other things cinnamon combos with, but I'd be concerned for a clutch that has a chance for one of them popping out if I was trying for a different snake in the process. So best advice then would be to check and double check the lines to know what the snakes are coming out of?
