    Blast and Damnation!

I want to sincerely apologize to anyone here to whom I said any smug version of, "My snake eats just fine! I've never had a problem."

    Yeah, about that.

Skull, my 15 month old normal boy has been on a hunger strike since August 12.

I know that BPs just do this from time to time but still is maddening and worrisome. He always used to zap and gulp his food with such alacrity. Now, he looks at it, tongue flicks a few times and then literally turns away.

His temps are fine 80 - 90 on the warm side, 80 - 75 on the cool side. After his first refusal, he spent a solid two weeks on the cold side then moved back over to the warm side. My husband keeps the habitat clean and changes water every 2 days or so. Skull is drinking water but he's just not interested in food. His last weight on August 31 was 802 grams. We're offering prey about every 10 days.

Blast and damnation! I hope he eats soon!

Is it wrong that I find your worrying over a 47 day feeding strike adorable?

Seriously, get back to me when it's been six months... I have a female that hasn't eaten since June.

This x2. My spider girl only just started eating again, since May.
    I've got quite a few...

Not looking forward to my first hunger strike. Just curious, is it usually the bigger ones that go off food, or should I prepare for the babies and juveniles to be finicky as well? Also, has anyone noticed more/less skipped meals among live or F/T eaters? My current theory is that my live feeder is less likely to skip a meal than any of my F/T snakes, but I only have 4 (soon to be 5) snakes and a few months of observation to go on.

All, thank you for your replies. They really help! (Six months without eating? HOLY CRAP!) I'm a wee bit less worried about my boy now. Also, his belly is pink now so he's getting ready to shed. We'll wait until he sheds before we offer again.

I apologize for taking so long to get back here. I had a family emergency to deal with.

Thanks again, y'all. (6 months?? YIKES!)
