Converted cabinets to cages questions
So for anyone who has one of these, has made one of these, or has seen one of these, what are some things I should think about before I start building?
I would also like it to be able to house live plants.
This is kind of my goal -

I think that is a really nice idea, great way to make a cage look like it belongs in the house. Probly a pretty easy conversion

Yes just make sure the wood is sealed good. Also make sure there are no surprise holes that could permit an escape.

The sides, and the bottom will be glass, or plexi, or a combination of the two. I'm thinking the top will be okay without a layer of glass, if I add a lot of sealant like you guys were saying. The cabinet in the top is just tall enough to allow for heat lamps and UV lamps, I'm gonna have to add in vent holes or fans in there to keep it from over heating the cabinet up there... BUT I THINK I'M EXCITED ABOUT THIS!
I just picked it up, and it's a little taller than I thought, which is awesome. It's about 8 feet tall, when I originally thought it was about 6. That's gonna be a load more space for my anoles. I feel bad about them being in a 40 gallon exoterra, they have lots of room, but I want them to have more!

Covering any inner wood finishes with plexiglass or water resistance material would be safe and you would still have the furniture look on the outside. Awesome project and thanks for the idea.
