If I HAD to choose between one of the two I would say boa. Love bps but great feeding response and more out going personalities gives boas the edge. And come on who doesn't love a big full grown boa?

Re: Red tail Boa or Ball python?

I would get a ball python, don't let a bum snake a "breeder" sold you discourage you, that snake should have never been sold to you in the first place it was obiously already in bad shape when you purchased it. next time you know to look for a healthier looking python and make sure he is currently feeding and not somthing that "was" feeding (I believe you stated that the breeder said you snake hadn't fed in a while) I'm not knocking boas or larger snakes(I went from a ball python to burmese python)

But In the off chance you get a boa that just has a bad attitude, thats a lot of snake for some people to handle when it is aggressive even for a small BCI. even an aggressive adult ball python is managable even for a novice. good luck with whatever you decide.

    * if I really had to choose I would say get a burmese, but that would be just wrong, lol

By the way are you in Cali? there are plenty of awesome breeders on here that can hook you up.

Carpet python. Morelia are awesome snakes, have great personalities, are active and dont hide all the time. Mine has quickly become my favourite snake. Everyone should have a carpet.
