    Freshly weaned babies dieing?

    Hey there,
I started breeding asf's, and every thing was going great. The adults seem healthy, but so far 2 freshly weaned hoppers have died. There is another litter of pinkies in there now. My thoughts are maybe they aren't learning to eat or drink on their own? What are your thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Tim

My first thought is can they reach the water bottle?

They are still with the parents, they can reach the water bottle I have seen a few drinking from it. I have seen all of them eating on their own as well. They are about 4-6 weeks old. I think I'm gonna put them in their own tank with a water dish instead of a bottle today.

I would say the most likely reason for baby multis dying is the cold or not being able to reach the water bottle (for just weaned ones).

Multis are native to Africa therefore theyll be wanting temperatures/humidity in roughly the same region, aka they probably want a little bit of a temp boost

Check out our caresheet www.redhotroyals.co.uk/?page=multis Just the main info in terms of breeding them, not sure if you have bred them previously?

Thanks for all the help! But on closer inspection I noticed they had bite marks on their stomachs. I split them up and they seem to be doing great.

Good good, Youll be needing to keep the cage pretty clean then, i think leaving a few in together should be fine aslong as theres only 1 male, they usually lick each others little cuts and i think the enzymes keep it clean and help repair faster (think its enzymes anyway dont quote me on it )
