    I don't know the meat breeds well. But for egg layers, I love my Sussex. We also got some Blue Wyandottes, they are gorgeous.

    The only meat breeds I know are the game hens. We had one once, a Dark Cornish.

    Egyptian fayoumis chickens lay craploads of eggs lol. They are also very slim, lightweight chickens. They don't eat a whole ton either. They're great free-range chickens, and they specialize in bug-eating lol.

    Bad thing about the Egyptian ones, is they only sell them straight run. Here at least. Hubby wanted one of those, but we can't have a noisy roo here, so we passed. Didn't want to chance getting a darn roo.
