with the ban in place im seeing more of this:

Found this ad on CL and had to follow up on it.

    http://tuscarawas.craigslist.org/bar/3201829945.html

It is a burm after talking to the guy and going to look at it. I understand everyone is in a panic and don't want caught with something you aren't allowed to have but why lie about it to get rid of it. This isn't the first time I've come across this type of ad. I was wondering what people that already have these banned animals are supposed to do and if this kind of thing is happening else where.

It's the people who do this kind of crap that gets the rest of us into trouble and perpetuates false knowledge that is so harmful.

I understand that the ban could potentially put some people in tight spots, and I certainly am not a fan of the ban... but this is unacceptable and in the end will only harm this hobby/industry further.

Interesting. I didn't know they had a ban in Ohio. Would a Burmese even be able to survive such a winter?

Anyways, I agree that people like the person in the post are part of the problem. However, at least he is trying to find a new home for the animal, but should be honest about the species. I would contact the local herpetological society if I had an illegal animal, or if I got before the ban, I would keep it. Most bans understand owners that got the animal legally can keep them until they die. Also, in my state, we have an amnesty day for reptiles.

I personally have not seen anyone lying about the specie in ads, but I have seen tons of illegal reptiles being sold on CL.

It says 'ground boa' now. I can't see the photo clearly enough to tell WHAT it is.

I thought that the ban only applied to newly acquired animals, not ones that were owned beforehand... Maybe PA has its own specific rules?

    - - - Updated - - -

Lol nevermind about the PA part, I see it's posted in the OH Craigslist. The "New Pennsylvania" thing got me for a minute.

The ban in Ohio starts January 1st. It has been in place since may but starting Jan 1 they will ne enforcing it. The list isn't just on reptiles but all exotics in Ohio. You van have the animals but the permitting and insurance criteria is absurd. You would have to ne very well off to afford 1 animal and a millionaire to own a collection. Imo anyhow. And no subtropical animal could survive an Ohio winter outside. It would take ill and pass before it got warm again. Average December day is in the high 30's
