    Leaving ball for 3 days

Hey guys, I am planning on purchasing my first ball(and first snake ever) in a couple weeks. I am a fulltime college student and will be going home for thanksgiving break for three days. my question is, if my ball is all fed, will it be ok if i left it for these three days. it just isnt really feasible to pack everything up and take it two hours home for just a long weekend. thanks!

Just make sure it has a good full tip proof water dish. it should be fine as long as temps are allowed to stay constant

Your BP will be fine for 3 days however you need to avoid feeding him before leaving.

While regurgitation are rare it could happen and if it does in your absence it can become a serious problem.

Stop any feeding at least 5 to 7 days before leaving.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I'd be quite interested in a fuller explanation on why regurgitation while alone for several days would pose a risk to a snake. Thanks,

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's because of stomach acid. The snakes stomach acid is some gnarly stuff (It breaks down bone for pete's sake) and can cause some damage to a snake if it's let wallow around in it.

Should be fine for 3 days. I agree with Deb above about not feeding it for 3 to 5 days before going and make sure it has a full bowl of water. Just make sure the heat is constant and safe while you are gone.

That makes sense with the low ph level in the snake stomach...thanks.
