Re: Blood python rescue
He looks like a bigger version of the two baby blood python I have.
I've dealt with a respitory infection before in my Dumerils boa and I know that they can be tricky sometimes. Khardeen had a couple of relapses before we got it completely cured.
I wish you luck. He is a beautiful looking snake.

Well today is the first time I've looked at samson since sunday seeing as we finished his course of antibiotics. He's blue as they come, almost white! Which is good cause with his bad scales he needs one soo bad. Buuut he's very gurgley/whistley and not Seeming to be progressing anymore.
I will be contacting our vet and finding out what our next course of action should be. I've read an RI can be a very tough thing to beat so I guess we'll keep our hopes up and just try again.
I almost thought we had it , seeing as he stopped wheezing and gurgling for about 5 days last week, but it seems as it has came back right after we quit his injections.
Bah.

Update!!
Well we Couldn't ask for a better day! Samson shed either sometime last night or this morning, and with it he lost all of his rotten looking scales, and the funky smell he had about him. With that, most of the whistling sound is gone, so that's a plus. . . Just a little gurgley yet and skinny, with mouth rot on the way out.
This in itself is elating, right? Scratch another thing off the list...
But that's not all. I figured since he shed it seemed like a good idea to offer food today and guess what? He almost tore my damn arm off ripping the rat out of the tongs.
Now... The question is.... As he is eating again is there any sort of schedule I should be putting him on to beef him up or just offer appropriate sized rats weekly? I gave him a small rat tonight just because I Didn't want to waste a jumbo if he refused, but I have some big chongin' rats in the freezer with his name on them.
Also should I slowly up the size of his meals for him so his digestive tract can readjust after antibiotics and illness or just let em' go hard?

I'm glad to hear he's doing so much better!!
I'd give him a week personally to see how his tummy handles it, but I'm not overly experienced with bloods so hopefully someone can comment.
From what I understand from my partner (he's the one doing the blood breeding/ care giving.. NOT ME haha) the digestive process is slower for Bloods. Dan only feeds Jumbos every 2 weeks. I would put him on maybe a 7 day for medium/large to give his system time to bounce back. get three or four meals into him before jumping up to bigger prey.
He looks pretty good to me for all the crap he's gone through.
Good on you for taking care of him, from the sounds of it he was on deaths door.
Good luck! And thank you for keeping us updated all this time.
Cheers,
Chris.

Samson seems to be doing Quite well. Aside from some light raspy breathing he shows no signs of any infection. He is also eating like A pig and had a monster poop the other day, so I'm thinking its time to give him a xxl.
We moved him from a big tub to a 40long breeder tank and he seems to love his newly expanded living space. The only thing I can't find is a hide heavy Enough that he doesn't flip over or move across the tank over his water dish. I was thinking of making a simple plywood box that fits snugly with the bottom open, maybe grout seal and paint it.
I guess that's all for now, probably time to drop this thread for the time being and get some progression threads Goin. Thanks for the support!
