Our first BP ETA: 3 weeks!

    Hello!

Our family has adopted our our first Ball Python, a male albino! I have always loved reptiles/insects/amphibians and such - and maybe I've got a recessive gene myself, because my daughter (3 1/2) is equally excited with them. She even sleeps with a stuffed snake. ;-)

Apart from always being wowed by snakes, my interest really perked when I "fell for" a green tree python in January at Disney. Stunning:

After doing a bit (ok, a lot) of research, I realized while I liked the tree python, it may not be the best starter snake for our family, and so I continued searching until I found a few other snakes I was equally fascinated with. A Piebald, an Albino and.. my favorite.. a Candy. A bit more research led me to conclude that the Candy was out of the question for now.

Much thanks to Justin Kobylka, our family has our very first BP, a recently hatched male albino, scheduled to arrive in about three weeks, we are thrilled!

In addition to purchasing: This Book and doing some internet research .. I'm very open to any suggestions, guidance and/or additional resources in caring for our new addition to the fam.

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Justin is a great guy. I have a few snakes he produced myself.

I suggest you check out these 2 threads, they are full of good information:

Hello, and to BP.net. I think it's great when kids are taught to not fear snakes...

Super helpful, thanks! Setting up an ideal enclosure can be a bit daunting!

Agreed! I feel the same way about spiders. Fortunately for me, DD seems keen on both.
