I'm wondering what age rat females can be impregnated? I plan on only growing out feeders to medium size before euthanizing them, but can they become pregnant before then?
So do people seperate them by sex? I'd imagine that they are right at a medium rat size by 4-6 weeks so even if they get pregnant it would only be by a week or so by the time they are euthanized and frozen.

Yeah. You have to separate them by sex otherwise, they might start to breed.
I haven't seen any of my rat pups breed as young as 5 weeks, but better safe than sorry.
They get weaned by 4(ish) weeks. So smaller than small. I don't know how many grams, but this is what my weans look like:
The little one on the right is ~3 weeks old.
The middle is weaned.
The big one is ~ 5 months old.

Sexual maturity is around 5 weeks which usually at that time in my case they are all fed off since I feed small to medium rats only (4 to 5 weeks)
Only holdbacks are separated by sex so the female can be bred in the future when reaching about 225/250 grams.
People say females can get pregnant at 5 weeks old. I have never had that happen and I keep them together till I feed them off, or move the hold back females into a tub of females. All of my weaners stay together for a few weeks before I move them into my breeding rack, those females don't have a litter for another 2 months or more.
