Hello, I recently got a beautiful 2011 Jungle carpet python, she is about 1'5" and i'm curious about enclosure sizes. Currently, she is living in a 29 gallon sterelite tub, that is heavily covered with plants and hiding spots, as well as heating. I am just curious is the extra space beneficial for her? or should I down size her to something smaller
I keep my 2011 carpet in a 2 x 2 x 1 foot cage at the moment. He will be getting a 4 x 2 x 2 foot cage before too much longer, extra space does't seem to bother them too much.
Just provide plenty of hide options and they do fine in a large cage. All my carpets are kept in either 2x2x2 or 4x2x2 caging with the majority of them being 2010's that are around 3 ft, with 2 2011 males that are both 2 feet.

The tub will be fine for now. I also recommend a 4x2x1 1/2-2 when it is adult. Once it gets too big for the tub I would just move it to the 4x2. Carpets aren't like balls and they do move around more and don't mind a bigger space. They are a pretty hardy snake. In my 4x2 I also have a couple dowels spanning it for him to perch. Jungles will do a bit of climbing when older as opposed to coastals which stop climbing as much when they are older.
