    Water Moccasin

don't necessarily call what I do "field herping", as I normally just run to get the camera when I find something on our property. While this isn't the first time I have seen a water moccasin, it is the first time I have caught one on the camera. I was weed-eating the island in our pond when I ran across this little guy. He shot off of the island, but crawled right next to one of our cypress trees. I got him to settle down enough to get a nice close up shot. I hope you enjoy it.

Nice photo of it! I would be extremely cautious if I ever saw one of those in my backyard.

    Re: Water Moccasin

I got bitten by a water snake in upstate NY last year. Was afraid it was a moccasin, but I guess it was a normal water snake because nothing happened other than a bit of blood.

    Great photo though!

Cool picture! Don't think I would actually want to meet one of those guys in my yard though..
