    GTP color change

despite my better intentions, I've largely been a failure at documenting my neonate's color shift. I did manage to capture the three main phases, and since it looks like he's just about settled on his final suit, I figured I'd share a few pictures.

    shortly after arrival

the beginnings of a fade to green

and finally I snapped a few this evening prior to feeding

I've been debating whether or not to keep this particular snake given that he's about due for a new mortgage, but I think he's sold me. thanks for looking.

I love the dark green! My female biak is a much lighter green than him.

he may still darken up a little, he's just finally all green for the first time. he is an unspecified (likely mixed) locale, but if I had to guess, I would say biak predominates. the dorsal markings, not to mention the attitude, suggest biak over much else.

Does he just change a little with every shed? My GTP was an adult when I got him so I haven't been able to observe the awesome color changing.

it's really just gradual. while it's more noticeable with each shed, it doesn't really depend on the shed cycle.

I would strongly disagree. Biaks have very long, skinny snouts and their color change takes years to complete. Most Biaks have a more mint green color and less predominant blue striping, as opposed to the bright green of your critter with very bold blue and very contrasting diamonds. Speaking of the "diamonds", Biak diamond patterns are usually heart-shaped and less triangular and neonate colors are less maroon turning more to a yellow-orange(think Kraft singles) with age. I would say you have a nice highland animal (Bokondini, Jaya, etc.).....shortened snout, bright green, bold blue and white/yellow diamonds. Depending on which locale of highland, some animals can have snappy attitudes.

Attitude doesn't always dictate the locale. The most defensive chondro I have ever owned was an adult female Aru. She was an absolute joy to work with.

However you look at it, you have a VERY nice looking animal! Enjoy and make room for more.
