Do you keep your rats and mice in the same room?

I'm just wondering if you guys breed your feeders all in the same room? Or if you have separate room for each feeder your growing up to breed?

I always kept my feeders in the same room. Rats, mice and asf. No problems.

I just don't know if my mice will breed with the smell of rats and noises they tend to make. But keeping mice downstairs is killing me! The smell over powers into my room and it ticks me off.

I know dozens of people who breed mice and rats in the same room. Racks will be side by side with one another with no adverse effects to their knowledge.

However, I work in a research lab. The information given to me during orientation/learning period was that mice tend to stress more and breed at a lower rate in the presence of rats. So they have separate rooms for different breeding species (Also to prevent cross contamination, etc.).

But like I said, I haven't known breeders who have had any negative effects. Maybe try housing your rats and mice in the same room for a full litter cycle and see how your mice adapt.

They will you'd be surprise what they can get used too.

I had them in the same rack at one point with no issue. Planning on doing it again at some point if I get a ARS rack.

My mice average 13 to 16 babies per litter and ZERO cannibalism.

I have bred both since 2007 and produce a few thousand feeders each year. (That means there is a smell)

Ive never had an issue when i had mice rats and hamsters in the same room. I wouldnt keep ur snakes in the same room as them tho. I found this out the hard way. Always having the smell of a food source around bp's make them more prone to bite. altho if i have a problem feeder it works nice lol.
