First year breeding. Few Questions.
Our 2000g female normal was paired to a spider and since this is my first time breeding, im not too sure what to look for in my female in terms of signs of laying. A few weeks ago she looked like this:
Now I dont know if thats building or ovy. When she looked like that, she was very hard in that spot. Now she is in shed and I noticed her back half getting more triangle shaped. The lump has subsided so my questions are:
1) Was that a building lump or ovy?
2) Does the triangle shape come before ovy or after ovy?
3) Is this shed her pre ovy (is there such thing) or pre lay?
Thanks for any help you can give!

Bout 30 days after she sheds be looking for eggs I'd say. She will probably be hanging out on the hot side in a coil too.

Re: First year breeding. Few Questions.
That sounds like it may have been an Ovy,and if in fact it was then that means she is gravid.they shed a couple weeks after ovy.At that point she is developing the eggs and that what causes the triangle shape,or also called 'ridge back' in their body.she also shouldn't feel hard at this point, more like waterballoon soft and getting plump in her latter half.
But how long ago was this paring?
If you haven't been keeping any track of follicle size there is a chance she could be building still as that pic doesn't't look like a clear ovy from that angle.

When did she shed last?
Is she glowing in that picture?
Pictures of the snake from the top might help some, that and info on when she shed last.

the last time she shed was January 28th, plus or minus a day.
the recorded locks were March 3, 8, and 16.
I thought he'd taken a picture of her from the top, but can't find it anywhere unfortunately.

As a p.s. she does seem to be spending her time on the hot side in a coil right now.

Re: First year breeding. Few Questions.
Honestly I'd warm up the incubator. I missed my het pieds ovy but I noticed her glow faded a little after her pre lay shed, and so I just assumed I might have eggs in 30, and sure enough...

So this ridge back or V-shape thing is after or before ovy? I also have this girl that i thought i missed her ovy, but the thing is she's still glowing and having this V-shaped look.

That looks like building. Ovulation tends to be pretty conspicious, if you catch her ovulating you'll know without a doubt. The triangle back thing, for my female at least, happened throughout the process. There's a pre-ov shed, almost always. The pre-lay shed is less dependable but from my experience, most females have a pre-lay shed.
If your girl fasts during the breeding season (which mine usually do) there probably wont be many sheds other than the pre-ovy and pre-lay sheds, since she wont be doing much growing and is dedicating all of her metabolic resources to making those eggs.
Good luck!

Doesn't look like a pronounced ovy to me either. I'd also say in this pic she is building. Keep an eye out for ovy, will look like she ate a cat!!
